Netflix update brings Android Wear support & new “Social Recommendation” feature

According to a blog posted on Netflix’s website, the Californian company is set to roll out an update for its official Android application which transports a new “Social Recommendation” feature, together with Android Wear integration that will push recommended movie notifications to your watch.

Here’s what Netflix had to say:

Now you can easily, and privately, recommend the shows you love to the people you care about, right from your Android phone.

We’ve also added a couple of new exciting features specifically for Android users.

First, we’re taking full advantage of the rich Android push notification capabilities to add images and action buttons that let you to watch, get more info, or thank your friend for a recommendation.

Second, for Android smartwatch users, we’ve created an Android Wear integration that alerts you when you’ve received a recommendation, and lets you watch, thank, play, or get more details on the show.

Some reports have appeared online claiming that the Social Recommendation update for Android has already started to roll out, but we haven’t received it as of yet, so we can’t confirm these rumors. We will, however, be sure to update this post as soon as it lands on one of our devices.
