The iPhone, more precisely the iPhone in 2007, was the first mobile phone to feature Gorilla Glass. The precise kind of glass utilized in the first iPhone, meanwhile, was not named as Gorilla Glass. In 2008, Corning formally unveiled Gorilla Glass, and in the years that followed, its renown began to grow.




2010 saw the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S, one of the first Android smartphones with Gorilla Glass. Because of its strength and ability to withstand scratches, Gorilla Glass has since become a standard feature in many flagship smartphones and other mobile devices.


Corning has continued to develop and release newer generations of Gorilla Glass, with each iteration offering improvements in terms of strength, scratch resistance, and overall durability. Many smartphones today, across various brands, use Gorilla Glass or similar toughened glass technologies to protect their displays.
