Google_Play_Store_App_Maturity_Ratings

Google continues to refine the appearance and functionality of its Material Design-based Play Store app. In its current 5.1.11 build, the Play Store has bright colors, download badges, and plenty of other goodies. But a lot of content also got pushed below the fold into the “Read More” section.

Among those being dragged back from the pit is a maturity rating for each app. Google has listened to parental feedback about the content available to teenagers and youth, and is implementing a three-tier rating system for apps. This doesn’t appear to apply to movies, music, or other content in Play, at least not yet.
The ratings are accompanied with a corresponding color: blue for 10 years, orange for 14, and red for 16. Further details of each rating will appear in the description.
Bear in mind this isn’t a rating restriction in the sense that a user under the age threshold will somehow be blocked from downloading an app, but it at least helps parents be in the know.
Like any rollout, this is far from universal, and isn’t even consistent yet across languages. So don’t be concerned when you find that the “Sexy Babes Ultimate Addition” app currently lacks a rating. Also, you shouldn’t need a rating to make the call on a sexy babes app.
