Samsung has already begun the rollout of Android 5.0 for the Galaxy S5 in Europe starting yesterday, while the American units are expected to get it sometime in the coming weeks.
A source has now spilled the beans on the rollout schedule for other devices such as the Galaxy Note 4 as well as the Galaxy Note 3.
According to @Rover829 on Twitter, who is a Korean correspondent for Reuters, Samsung will begin sending out the coveted Lollipop update to the Galaxy S5 LTE-A, the Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3 as well as the Galaxy Note 4 starting early 2015. Now the definition of early can be defined in several ways, but we assume the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 LTE-A will be the first to get the update sometime in January.
We won’t be surprised if Samsung prioritizes the rollout for Galaxy Note devices first. But in any case, customers should have the update on their handsets before Q1 2015. Carrier variants of the handset might take slightly longer to see the update though.
