A new leak has revealed the alleged hardware specs sheet of the Sony Xperia Z4 Ultra as well as the Xperia Z4 Compact, which are expected to be shown off sometime in Q2 2015. The launch of the Xperia Z4 Ultra is quite significant as Sony hasn’t launched a phablet since the Xperia Z Ultra in mid-2013. A leak from last month gave us some idea about the hardware of the Xperia Z4, Z4 Compact and the Z4 Tablet and this merely reiterates some of those details.
According to this leak, the Xperia Z4 Compact (or the Xperia Z4 Mini) will feature a 4.7 inch display carrying a resolution of 1920 x 1080, making it one of the most pixel dense devices in the market. It is also expected to feature the Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa core chipset much like the rest of the Xperia Z4 family.
In the camera department, the Xperia Z4 Compact will reportedly pack the tried and tested 20.7-megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensor and a 5-megapixel camera on the front. The device is set to feature a battery with more than 3,000 mAh capacity and IP68 certified water/dust resistance to round off the specs sheet. There’s also going to be improved set of stereo speakers, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage according to the leak.
The Xperia Z4 Ultra on the other hand will be the supercharged version of its predecessor, the Xperia Z Ultra, although the size reportedly remains unchanged. It is said to be packing a 6.44 inch Quad HD display, a 16-megapixel camera on the back, the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3GB of RAM and a battery somewhere between 3,500-4,000 mAh in capacity. The leak says that the smartphone will look very identical to the Xperia Z3 in terms of design, so expect it to look like a magnified version of the late 2014 Sony flagship (sort of like the Moto X and the Nexus 6).
Sony will allegedly launch the Xperia Z4 Ultra with a stylus, much like Samsung’s Galaxy Note series. We can expect some new software features implemented with this new stylus as well. 2015 could be a very eventful year for Sony if these leaks and rumors materialize.
